Diffpack GUI: The SimRes Data Browser
| The SimRes Browser is an important part of the Diffpack application GUI. It allows you to interactively select and explore your simulation results. It covers scalar and vector fields in 1D, 2D and 3D and is closely integrated with the Vtk-based rendering window in the lower part of the screen. |
| Press the button "Load data sets" to select the directory containing your simulation results. Each data set (having a unique case name) will show up in the data set list in the browser window. Clicking a data set icon will expand the list in a hierarchically fashion to show the fields contained in the data set. A second click on the icon will collapse the data set view. |

Selecting a field from the list (left mouse button) will cause the data to be rendered in the lower part of the GUI. Vector fields
are indicated by a small arrowhead that can be expanded by a mouse-click to list the vector components as separate scalar fields. Such
component fields can be selected and rendered as any other scalar field.
The text fields to the left in the browser window provide information on the field names. The sliders and numerical entries to the right can be used to scale the selected data fields. In order to scale, one has to toggle the appropriate button ("Vector scale" or "Surface scale"). In contrast to the scalings available from the visualization controls, the ones available in the browser physically scales the data sets (instead of setting scale parameters in the rendering engine). Data files are not affected (read-only). |
