Diffpack GUI: Graphical Displays

The lowermost part of the Diffpack GUI contains the rendering and curve plotting windows. You can switch between the two different displays by clicking the tabs close to the bottom of your screen.

The rendering of scalar and vector fields is performed by Vtk (Visualization Toolkit), a state-of-the-art library for scientific visualization. You select the field to be rendered in the SimRes Browser. Once a field is displayed, it can be rotated in any direction by dragging the mouse with the left button pressed. Similarly, you can zoom by dragging the mouse while the right button is pressed. Combining the left mouse button with the Shift key of your keyboard enables translation of the rendered scene. A variety of visualization techniques are accessible from the Visualization control window.

When the visualization window is active, you can switch between wireframe (press the "W" key) and surface (press the "S" key) modes. By pressing the "R" key, the scene will be reset to its default position and size.

In addition to the rendering of scalar and vector fields, the Diffpack GUI offers an embedded Gnuplot engine for curve plotting. Like the field rendering, you choose the curve to be plotted from the CurvePlot Browser. A variety of graph options are accessible from the Graph control window.
